Green Resources has a total of 40,000 ha of planted forest. This has been achieved by establishing new plantations. GR does not harvest any native natural forest. About two-thirds of the plantations are pines and about one-third various types of eucalyptus (however, there are smaller areas of other species, including native species in Uganda).
Tanzania’s Southern Highlands still dominate the company’s plantations. There are well established plantations in Uganda, but there is little scope for further expansion because the existing areas are fully planted. The company has made major investments in Mozambique, and this is where the majority of the expansion of the company’s plantation assets will happen in the next few years.
