Green Resources in partnership Dolphin Bay Chemicals and Beira Corridor have donated transmission poles to EDM (Electricidade de Mozambique) in support of the reconstruction of the electrical infrastructure in the Beira area.   Green Resources donated a total of 450 treated transmission poles.

The Governor of Niassa recognized the significant contribution through her presence when the first load of poles was dispatched from Green Resources’ industrial site in Lichinga. Similarly, the Minister of Agriculture together with representatives of EDM and other officials complimented the contribution upon arrival of the first truck load in Beira on 9 April.

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy wrote to express his appreciation:

“Thank you for the contribution, which will help to mitigate the difficulties of re-establishment the network in the affected areas. I would like you to convey to the shareholders, the management and all your employees our appreciation for the attention given to the ongoing efforts to restore life to normality in the central region of the country”

In a separate letter the Minister of Agriculture wrote:

“Allow me to acknowledge receipt of the message while expressing our gratitude for the solidarity expressed by the company Green Resources in the face of this calamity that has devastated the center of the country. We want to ensure that we will make good use of the offer in favor of the recovery / reconstruction of the socio-economic of the central region of the country. Please accept the assurances of our highest consideration”

The poles were harvested and treated at Green Resources’ poles treatment facility in Lichinga, Niassa. Dolphin Bay Chemicals donated preservative chemicals. Transport of the poles from Lichinga to Beira was provided by Beira Corridor, an agricultural project funded by several donors, including the Norwegian Embassy.  The initiative was supported by the Norwegian Embassy including the transport arrangement.
