The increasing degradation and deforestation of natural forests remains a global concern. This necessitated change of the status quo for forest products, through an increase in plantation forests. Globally, 277.9 Million Hectares existed by 2015.  Green Resources is a major player in the development of plantations to meet timber demands while enhancing socio-economic and environmental aspects.

Green Resources’ Ugandan subsidiary Busoga Forestry Company (BFC) had its 8th surveillance audit for responsible forest management from 12th – 14th August 2018. This is an annual monitoring activity aimed at evaluation of continued compliance to the requirements of principles and criteria of responsible forest management. The results of this audit were positive with recommendation for continued certification.


Green Resources’ Tanzanian subsidiary GRL Tanzania Ltd. had a recertification audit 21st – 23rd August 2018. Every 5 years certified operations undergo a full re-audit. The company is awaiting the final report, but it has been proposed that the company is re-certified.

Green Resources adheres to both National and International standards thus helping to promote and further responsible forest management. GR’s operations in Uganda, Tanzania, and Niassa, Mozambique are part of the 437.5 million hectares Certified globally. With vital experience and knowledge GR will seek to continue being one of the leading large scale responsible forestry organisations in East Africa. Ensuring it provides authentic and quality wood products, carbon sequestration and ecosystem services in a responsible manner.
